Worship Committee Update - Lent

Happy New Year, everyone!

The worship committee had its second meeting yesterday afternoon. You can look forward to some interesting services ahead, including a Taizé service this Sunday the 14th, which Linda and George are planning out, and our first service of Morning Prayer on Sunday the 28th. I will be offering a reflection on January 28th. The reflection will be in the form of “a letter to a friend,” which Bishop Mariann recommended to open up the pulpit to more lay voices. Remember how meaningful the stewardship reflections were? We would love for YOU to offer a reflection during one of the upcoming Morning Prayer services! If you are interested, please talk to any one of us on the worship committee (George, Ray G, Linda or me).

The Ashes-to-go ministry will be back on Ash Wednesday this year, led by Rev. Linda - more information to come. We’d love to have a group go out into the community with her!

And mark your calendars for the 6 Fridays of Lent (not including Good Friday): Stations of the Cross via Zoom - remember this from 2020? Rev. Linda will lead this again.

In other news, the vestry will meet on January 17 to talk about the 2024 budget (thank you to the Finance Committee - Kirk, Eric & Vanvisa - for their work preparing this!) and begin planning for the Annual Meeting on Feb. 25. We’ll also be talking about what to do about the multiple leaks that we’ve been experiencing during heavy rains. This week we had more leaking than ever. A heartfelt thank-you goes out to Miguel Flores from our Seventh Day Adventist community who contacted me to let me know about the leaks on Tuesday evening; to Phill Scott who went over to the church at 9 pm to mop things up and put buckets and trash cans out to catch the water; to Shaun Hardy who talked me through the issues and went over to church the next morning; and to Debbie Beebe who has been talking with the Manantial de Vida congregation about ways in which they are willing to help with repairs and who’s also been taking the lead on looking into roofing bids, etc.

Take a deep breath and let it out with a sigh! Sending love to all of you.

-Anna
