Happy New Year - January 5, 2023

Happy New Year! Happy Epiphany!

I feel deeply blessed by the special Advent and Christmas we were able to spend with our sister congregation and by the beautiful funeral services for Luis Correa, Jeremy Woodhams, and Anna Gillespie. What a stirring Advent and Christmas season this has been. And wrapping it up with Lessons and Carols last Sunday was a real treat. Thank you to everyone who made the season so special.

Moving into the new year, our Annual Meeting will take place on February 26. We will be electing 3 new vestry members, a new junior warden, as well as one delegate and one alternate delegate to represent Good Shepherd at the Diocesan Convention. Do you feel called to serve? This is an exciting time at Good Shepherd! As you will recall, the vestry serves as the Rector search committee and will be helping to shape who we are and what our priorities are as we make this transition. Interested in a smaller commitment? Consider running for the delegate position and dive deeper into the Diocesan decisions made at Convention.

Rosemary is chairing a nominating committee for the vestry candidates. If you are interested in serving, please contact any one of them. In addition to Rosemary, the committee consists of Nellie Thompson, George Drumwright, Nina Scott, and Becky Parks. And if they contact you to ask you to consider running, please do take the invitation into prayerful consideration.

I’d also invite you to prayerfully consider learning/improving your Spanish as we dive deeper into our relationship with the Buen Pastor congregation. Do you have someone in your life who’s a Spanish speaker who might like to improve their English? Consider a language exchange! It’s free, builds community, and is a great way to spend your time. I’ve also put information about Spanish classes into the announcements today.

That’s all for today. Blessings and love to all!
