Becoming Anti-Racist

The Baptismal Covenant lies at the heart of what Episcopalians believe and profess. In the final two vows of the covenant, we affirm our mission as disciples to all people:

  • Will you seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving your neighbor as yourself? I will with Gods help.
  • Will you strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being? I will with God's help.

In living into these vows we reject racism and the supremacy of any people over another people. We recognize that to over come the systemic racism found in our culture and the inbred racism of any people raised in a culture of privilege, we need to "read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest" the lessons of being anti-racist.
